Brian, suppose you come across 100 starving people.  You give each one a plate with a nice juicey steak and side of mash potatoes.  Do you know how to tell which one are the liberaltards?  They will be the ones bitching and moaning because you didn't bring them any A1.

The fact that people bitch doesn't give your arguments any credibility.

No asshole, just the opposite. The jaded wealth are the ones who eat those fat juicy stakes and would complain that others simply want affordable meat at all.

What's missing on this thread is whether Alaska Airlines even fired the guy. Airlines are a type of company that generally does things by the book. Landing that plane cost a lot of money so I won't be surprised if it costs him his job. But he will have access to a formal termination procedure and appeal. And get severance pay if he's been there long enough. A majority of blue-collar workers don't have these benefits anymore.

The real problem with laissez-faire capitalism is that its stability must predicate on unlimited economic growth. But we're gonna have bosses one way or another and bosses will always be privileged, living better than others do, sometimes even living while others die. It's called "famine never reaches the rulers" and held true long before the private property state came into being.

The difference in life styles between rich and poor has been steadily closing.  Liberaltards like Brian would like you to believe that the middle class and poor are being abused by the rich.  However the fact of the matter is everyones quality of life is rising and its rising fast.  Poor people today have it better than middle class people of the 1970s.  We have a situation where there is a capitalistic tide lifting all boats.

Yep. For example, in 1975 70% of US households had a color TV. By 1999 it was 98%. As Brian is a regular poster, he probably has a computer - something that used to be a luxury item. If you look at what people have now compared to forty years ago, rather than looking at gaps, it seems that trickle down is working quite well.

And if you still don't think you have enough - work harder. I used to deliver newspapers at 3am, open a convenience store at 6am, and went to college on Saturdays. Now I have a 6-figure position. And it's still work. I'm in taxes, and just finished 3 months of 66-hour weeks.

If you want more stuff, Brian, work hard and work smart. THat's the recipe for success, and it isn't a secret.

Hey you selfish jaded idiot, "lifestyle" is a bullshit term. Everyone needs food and shelter dipshit. Living is what all humans do.

The poor aren't out to be trendy asshole. How does it feel to have an atheist who doesn't believe in Jesus value the kind motifs of the NT  better than a fucking idiot like  you?

(April 15, 2015 at 11:27 am)Bad Wolf Wrote: Concerning the OP, I've heard that it's considered a good thing to fall asleep at work in Japan as it means that you've been working really hard. Maybe it was China, I can't remember.

In China it is customary to given workers down to lowest level an hour off after lunch to doze off during the post launch crash.   This is noted to substantially improve safety, worker alertness and productivity during the rest of the afternoon.   This hour is almost never neglected even if the low level worker otherwise has to work 12 hour a day to make quota.

In Japan it is customary to never arrive after your boss or leave before your boss.  If you have nothing to do it is permissible to nap to pass the time.   It is considered a dereliction of duty if the boss is working and wants you, and you are not immediately at hand.

It should be noted in the supposedly sweatshop environments of China, the middle class usually gets much more formalized time off than in the U.S.   In addition to 2-3 weeks of paid time off, government mandates another week after each of Chinese New Year, May Day socialist labour day, and national day holiday, giving effectively 5-6 weeks paid vacations a year.

And on the other hand, if you're taking money to do a job, do your sleeping at home. I work sixty hours a week and wouldn't dream of sleeping on the job, because giving my employer less than fair value isn't right.

That depends on whether you are paid for the quality, timeliness and value of your service, or the time you put into work. If your are paid by the hours worked, it would be immoral of you to cheat your employer by sleeping when drawing pay for nominally working. But if you are paid for the work and not the hour, then you should have the authority to judge how best to provide the agreed upon service, including whether you should take a nap to clear your mind.

I agree with this general consideration, but can't make it work for the scenario in the OP. Even if I assume the baggage handler were paid per plane load and it was permissible to nap between flight preps, the choice of nap location would be enough for me to shitcan this idiot.
