Atheist/theist behaviour

I didn't throw caution to the wind and place everything in ''god's'' hands, but...there was a feeling of safety...even if it was false, when I followed faith. Also, after I left Christianity, not right away, but even up until recently, after accepting atheism...I still struggled with being 'ok' as an atheist. Indoctrination + imagination = a comfortable delusion. Sadly.

I think people should put down their bibles and just tune into to what makes them fulfilled.  I think there are directions, stances, pursuits, and ways of interacting which satisfy, and others which don't.  Just paying attention to what works and how it feels is enough.  Approaching life as if it is a blank slate and arbitrary is not satisfying or even true.  But you don't need a god to get right with.  Just tuning into and honoring yourself as you find it is enough.

RE: Atheist/theist behaviour
My aunt and uncle are the best/worst when it comes to this.
They live their lives just as any other person, and when things go their way they praise the Lord on High instead of recognizing accomplishments (their own or those of others), and when things are terrible they blame it on Satan testing them instead of acknowledging their failings or bad circumstances.
It drives me nuts.

Edit: I think what really bugs me isn't so much being thankful to the deity of choice as it is the complete disregard for the need to try when things don't work out like they want them to. They think they'll get out of debt, or land that promotion by prayer and prayer alone, and when it doesn't happen they whine like children and throw personal responsibility to the wind.
