As for incoming Muslims...one of the things I'm most proud of about my country is our attempts to include people of any background and accomodate them (again, speaking generally of course). However, there are limits to what's acceptable and what isn't, and I daresay there are quite a few muslims who are taking the piss with that goodwill. Aside from their religion being laughable bullshit like any other, my personal muslim friends are lovely people, I just wish we could all get along as one big happy family, get high as fuck together and enjoy life. That extends to the entire human race, really, but I know it's a pipe dream.

Isn't it true that most of these people make little to no effort to integrate into your culture?
And isn't it true that many of them rely on government benefits instead of working?  Huh
Speaking from personal experience, no and no. That's with the acknowledgement that I may be limited in that area, but from what I've seen, the muslim problem really isn't as bad as the Daily Mail likes to make out. I catch glimpses of their crap whenever I use it to wipe my arse, and they really need to calm it the fuck down.

Ok, that's good to know  Tongue

Mr. Englishmen, please tell me, what are your thoughts on the BBC show "Sherlock"?  Shy

I'm a bit skeptical about this, I think people underestimate how big a stumbling block religion is to integration, some of the stronger beliefs can't really be compromised on (equality, openness to blasphemy etc.)

Quote:The Tories have done quite a good job of that as well, the bastards. I live in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Our MP remained Conservative, and I think most of the region did as well.

Most of everywhere seems to have gone Tory, are the people selfish arseholes there? I always assumed that's what Tory voter territory would be like. I'm from former coal mining land which means a donkey with a red rosette could get in here, which is why i didn't vote Blush

I have been watching a lot of British shows on Netflix and Hulu. Why is there a washing machine in so many of these television kitchens? They are usually right by the kitchen sink

One of the best TV shows ever made, and I cannot fucking wait for the special and then for series 4 Tongue
It's also bought me a LOT of goodwill toward Stephen Moffat's direction of Doctor Who, which for the past few years has been...shaky. Though last series was rather splendid IMO.

Not particularly as far as I can see, they just bought into the propaganda. Sure, overall the country is doing better, but as ever, the little people are being trampled on. Whilst this government hasn't been terrible, so far they've been sorely lacking on a lot of the details. In my humble opinion, at least.

That's...how pretty much every kitchen in the UK is designed. Is it different for the US? (Assuming that's where you're from)

This is actually common in many countries. In Brazil, it's the norm for apartments.  Tongue

I agree, Sherlock is incredible.  Big Grin I've never watched Dr. Who, so I don't have an opinion on it.
But the purpose of this thread is to hear the opinions of an Englishman, so here we go  Tongue

How do you feel about the European Union?

And on a less serious note, how do you feel about the Spice Girls?  Shy

In my current home, my washer and dryer is in a separate laundry room.  When I was a child, the washer and dryer was in a large closet with doors that folded out. I've also lived in several houses where the washer and dryer were downstairs in the basement.

Sherlock's brilliant, can't wait for the next series - which British TV shows are shown/most popular where you're from? I'm wondering what aspects of our culture are exposed to other countries

Why not? Are you more used to a separate room for laundry?

They're going to cut a lot deeper now the Lib Dems aren't there, I think we'll probably realise what a moderating influence they were in five years time, but "at least we only tripled tuition fees!" isn't much of a boast

The EU is splendid, has a vast array of benefits, and I would take it any day over Europe tearing itself to shreds fighting a bloody and pointless war that costs the lives of millions. It's a-ok from where I'm standing.
The Spice Girls are from the 90's and disbanded years ago, you might need to update your UK trivia a bit Wink
Other than that, they were shit and awful and I'm glad we're shot of them Tongue

RE: Ask an Englishman.
I've no idea what my opinion on the EU is, but if UKIP are against it, it must be good
