The general wisdom is that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity

RE: The general wisdom is that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Just like many real and legitimate disorders, ADD/ADHD has been hijacked by people who want an excuse for their own poor behavior (in this case- feeding their kid sugar like crack, not implementing any form of discipline and then popping the kid full of pills when they act out). I feel bad for people who's child genuinely has ADD/ADHD because theres enough of the 'other kind' to make their kids serious disorder seem like a result of bad parenting.

In other news the giant fucking circle jerk that is the medical industry/big pharma love and encourage it. The more patients, the more money and the more money the merrier these fucks can all be.

I take Modafinil, and Focalin for ADHD.

Modafinil keeps me balanced, calmer, more alert and able to be interested in my life.

Focalin gives me increased focus for specific tasks, so that I can really focus and do what needs to be done, and to some degree, think at a higher level than most, and not go through life with a lackadaisical laid back attitude.

I have been completely caffeine free for the past year or so, and I eat a regular diet for a kid my age(semi-healthy meals with the occasional mc donalds/pizza every now and then).

Without my meds I could never be interested in anything, even stuff I wanted to be interested in would become boring, and life would become dull. Even the things I wanted to focus on, the things I actually legitimately found fun and interesting, the tasks that were not tedious, I simply couldn't. Not sure what this means, just wanted to share my story of how ADHD has effected me.

I also think it's common for people without ADHD to not understand the disorder, and for some, question its legitimacy. It's hard to imagine not being able to focus on things you want to focus on. Most people think of it just happening during tedious tasks, but it's not that simple. No matter what your mind drifts, and you can't do much about it, whatever you want to call it, classify it as, or question, it's irrelevant, because the issue remains regardless. People may illegitimately claim they have ADHD, this is true of practically all diseases/conditions, where there will always be people that think they have it who don't, or are forced to believe they do. I'm addressing the people who think it's not a real disorder - because trust me, I wish it wasn't.

Glad you and your physician found a combo that works for you,
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
