Do you think we'll ever discover where the universe came from?

RE: Do you think we'll ever discover where the universe came from?
Hey Rob. Let's say we really did prove conclusively that we are in a sim.
Would you act differently? It's still your only life? You still want to be happy?

Hell, I don't even think this will change anything?
(Other than scientists arguing profusely with Kevin to not turn off the sim until we find a way to leave our dying planet)
Ahhh, the irony...
No God, No fear.

Well, if we're in a sim but other "people" are conscious like me, then it wouldn't make any difference. I'd act just the same. Ultimately the experience of these consciousnesses is all that matters within our reality, however "real" things actually are.

If I was in fact the only consciousness, that would have some effect on me, in theory,

However, I wouldn't be prepared to take the chance that scientists are wrong about that last point, so I would act the same way anyway.

(Scientists proving they are just background in a simulation starring only me is a weird notion.)

I know what you mean about "everyone's" an actor in a sim world programmed just for you.
(I can imagine your rabbits speaking in English and playing cards with the dog too when you're not around, like in toy story, then when you appear again, they play their part.)

In all seriousness,
It would probably be an multi player sim where all sim characters are as real as each other.

It all depends on how you define universe. If you define it as everything that exists[could possibly exist/ever existed/will exist/etc] then we could very well include it's 'cause' in the term universe. At a very basic level the question is like a snake devouring its own tail.
