Christian Video Game!

RE: Christian Video Game!
I miss when poeing had subtlety.
"For the only way to eternal glory is a life lived in service of our Lord, FSM; Verily it is FSM who is the perfect being the name higher than all names, king of all kings and will bestow upon us all, one day, The great reclaiming"  -The Prophet Boiardi-

Here's me trying to make a game programming tutorial (which sucked) and playing my religious-themed game (which was pretty good imo).  Anyway, this thread reminded me about that, so thought I'd show it off a little since it involves blowing up the old evil pope. Note the super-cool spaghetti-monster icon in the splash screen Big Grin

It is a metaphor really, for what Christians are called to do in this life: be a "Warrior" and call on God's power to fight demons, in whatever form they may be.

Two things:

1) If you want to get technical, all gods are conspicuously absent in Diablo III. The "good" guys are angels, which seem to be working on their own accord. Also, I use the term very loosely, as roughly half of them want to kill all humans for the failings of some... although, ironically, that does draw some creepy parallels to several Old Testament myths.

2) Whenever deities are mentioned, they're nameless and plural.

This is only "Christian-themed" in the loosest possible sense of the word, if you want to look at "good vs evil" featuring angels and demons. One could also say it's Zoroastrian-themed or Islam-themed, so, there's that.

Side note: I remember playing Diabo II years ago at my parent's house. They had some other couple over there, and they found out what I was playing. I could overhear the wife complaining to her husband that "Diablo" means "Devil". This is technically true, but I didn't feel like explaining to her that I'm fighting Diablo and not worshiping him. Whatever.

There was an NES game once, had 4 different minigames in it, in one you were Noah, collecting animals...iirc  Cant recall the name of it for the life of me, though.

Anyone?

I have diablo 2 and SC:BW. After that, I made an embargo on Blizzard products. They fucked up everything. Why would I buy a game that cant be played offline? Fuck them, I will put my money elsewhere.

Blizzard stopped being Blizzard.  They had to sell out to get the cash to finish WoW (and the new interests never let them produce the game they'd leveraged themselves for in the first place).  Sadly, their greatest game ended them.  They tried to reform as a seperate entity with their old creative talent and pump out another game, but the magic was gone.

Poes will be Poes.

So, should I not look into Diablo 3? I know it's not a Christian game, but is it worth my time?

As a Christian I am generally wary of video games, especially RPGS/MMOS since there is a lot of anti-Christian messages to them!

Yet I have found one that is good for all Christians to play!: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/

The game is called "Diablo III" and in it, you play as a warrior with powers who fights evil demons and monsters!

It is a metaphor really, for what Christians are called to do in this life: be a "Warrior" and call on God's power to fight demons, in whatever form they may be.

True they aren't as apparent as they are IRL as they are in the game, but tehy exist, and IMO, this game reminds us of how vigilant we should really be!

fun game but the angels in game they really don't care about humans except for that one angel.

IMO it's a fucking amazing game but Diablo II is even better.

Definitely worth playing IMO.
