Conspiracies
#11
RE: Conspiracies
Stupid people want to feel superior, but normally they can't, because in fact they are not.  If they attempt to talk politics, or philosophy, or science, they're going to look like fucking morons.  So they look for some little niche where they can be "expert," and make it their raison d'etre.

What they don't understand, unfortunately, is that everyone still thinks they're fucking morons.

Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?

Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is God and there is man, it's only a matter of who created whom

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The more questions you ask, the more you realize that disagreement is inevitable, and communication of this disagreement, irrelevant.

Hey, we're all nutjobs. Technically.
Our outlook goes against the grain of the world's majority.

Our crazy conspiracy is that religion is just a heinous plot to control the masses!
Fucking crazy wacky bunch we are, hey?
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

I don't think that it's really a conspiracy. A conspiracy is a deliberate plot to mislead people into believing something untrue, is true. I think everyone a part of a religion truly believes it to be the truth, and even the individuals who wrote the bible, did to some degree believe so, however they are simply deluded.

I think "Deliberate" is the key word. I don't think any atheists are deliberately leading people to religion, at least not in a large quantity.

Also there's a lot of money in the pundit circuit.

Yes conspiracy peddlers like Alex Jones are like Benny Hinn.

I'm not talking about the validity of any of them(to some degree), but the reasoning for them existing in the first place. I get that they are in an effort to find the truth, which I definitely commend, however this is a stretch in a lot of cases. To be quite honest, most of the time they are not based on nothing, even if it is bad evidence. What is your explanation for the philosophy behind it?

How do you explain the fact that often even the most crazy, out in left field, totally ridiculous conspiracy theories(I.E Flat Earth, Reptilians, Clones, etc.) somehow still manage to get evidence that they support these theories with? I'm not really talking about the fact that regardless of the evidence they are most likely wrong, we understand that, i'm talking about how they string together this evidence with their own personal narrative in the first place.

Thoughts?
I think a lot of people are just plain bored, and they fill their time with this stuff to deflect attention from their dull existence.
