Don't know much about family history. If grandmother is to be believed my grandfather was mechanic in No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron. Also there is a family legend about grand...father being Hungarian count, though I very much doubt it.

Either sides of my family are from the north of Portugal. My last name refers to a tree, which is reminiscent of the time when Jews had to convert to Christianity, or leave the country... Those old Jews adopted Portuguese names, but didn't want any of the old names, so they got some inspiration from nature. There are several such nature-based last names... And some are among the most common in Portugal, now... Like mine... So it's not really traceable... North of Portugal is the best I can do.

I need to try that ancestry DNA 'kit' that I've seen on commercials. To know for sure ...But, to the best of my knowledge upon researching my own family tree...I'm half Irish and half Italian. It would be cool to find out that there is Asian somewhere in there...I love the Asian culture, too. Smile

I bought one of those.  It's not bad - lots of fun.  My Uncle was hoping that the rumor that he had Cherokee blood was true.
Alas, no.  I'm 96% British Isles.  The rest is French.  There is a reason that I burn under fluorescent lights!   Tongue   Oh well.
