Ok folks - - I did another thread, ages ago, about the unbelievably moronic horror of xtian tracts by Jack Chick. He's been creating even-more-crazy-than-Ken-Ham badly drawn, badly written cartoon tracts since the 1980's, and has a huge following. One of Chick's favorite "scientists" is Kent Hovind. If you came from a background like mine, where this abusive idiot was practically worshiped, these tracts will make you ill. If you don't come from a xtian background, they are apparently hilarious. In fact, I have been told that a lot of atheist speakers pass them out at events - they are quite effective.
Well, I have put more than 200 of them on Google Drive, in a public folder. If I followed my instructions correctly, anyone should be able to access these folders and download the tracts. Most folders contain a text file that describes each tract in the set. There is also a complete list.docx file that shows all Chick tracts that have been published.
I want to share these. But Catholics and Muslims and Jews - you might want to steer clear. There are 16 tracts in the "Anti-Catholic" folder, for example, and they're slanderous. There is a tract in "Promoting Child Abuse" called Lisa, a story about a little girl who was being raped by her father and his friends. Then her father "accepts Jesus" and tells Lisa that he won't do that anymore, and that's where it ends. Life is good again. There are "Black tracts" because Chick didn't think his all-white characters would reach African Americans. But the ones that really make me mad are the "Kid tracts". Start the brainwashing as soon as the kids can read.
I really hope anyone who thinks they can use these ultimate examples of xtian insanity will download them. They're pdf's. The files are perfectly safe.

Even when I was a christian, i would have found the stuff in those tracks immoral. I'm kind of glad I didn't encounter any outwardly fundie person when i was a kid. I would have just thought they were crazy, whether they claimed to be christian or not.

Yes, and probably our European and Aussie members might even think they are spoofs - can't possibly be serious. But I was raised in a church that put these things next to their Bibles - which they believed were infallible. The Preachers gave them to "us kids" as gifts. That's why I want to make them available. I want to show folks who haven't seen it what REAL fundie insanity is. I think this crap is freakin' dangerous.

I have heard that many people who don't know him think they're spoofs. Like Onion articles or something. But nope. he really is this crazy. It's like when people say one of the best paths to atheism is actually reading the bible cover to cover with a skeptical attitude. And why some poeple say you need to read the bible "in the spirit".

Of course, it's nice to see them categorised like that, even if I'm not sure "Somebody Loves Me" belongs in the "Promoting Child Abuse" category. I think (at least in theory), it might actually belong in the "Literature" section, since I'm inclined to see it as being a riff on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Match Girl," and all the fucked-up subtleties inherent in the original story. And, while we're at it, I think "The Letter" might belong to that category as well. Why? Compare the messengers from Hell to Gustave Dore's illustrations of "The Divine Comedy." I'm going to go out on a limb and say Jack (or probably Fred Carter, his "good" artist) apparently felt lazy that day and decided to just trace off the most famous illustrations of one of the most popular works of Medieval literature.
