For some reason conspiracy types tend to be like:

World government means people being forced to live in FEMA detention camps!

And I'm just wondering how/why that's the supposedly inevitable conclusion.

So, what's the actual problem with a world government?

People don't realise (apparently) that history shows the earth becoming more centralised and more homogenous in terms of belief structures and societal norms. 

Sure, the idea of a unified earth is still many years away, but it's obvious when you consider the sheer level of communication and exchange of ideas on the Internet (as one example) that many parts of the world previously cut off as it were are now connected. I don't know about the whole civilisation unification thesis, but it's unquestionable that barriers of otherism are slowly being demolished.

So I agree with your question. What exactly is the issue with a one world government (ignoring the fact that one doesn't exist and never has).

Been in California on vacation for a week. Yes the world is becoming more interconnected, and cooperation is great and something to strive for. After all we are all sharing the same planet. World government once realized fully means an end to national sovereignty and self determination. this is something that's been implemented slowly for over 100 years. What it means is that your country can't rule you, or you can't vote for your laws. They will be implemented at the international level. The league of nations was the beginning, and it's grown into various international agreements, and the UN. There are some good things, but it will mean the first world will have to brought down to second world status, and the first world status will bump up a little, but it will be better to keep them poor. Especially to save the earth, industrialization will need to end, the population will have to be purged, and global controls will be enforced. Just imagine if sharia law was implemented worldwide. It will not, but you will lose your choice, and lose your culture.

The term new world order has been around for more then half a century. HG wells wrote the book New World Order.

Back when I supported it I was young and hadn't realized how corrupt the world was yet. After a few years of researching it, found out it was an elite plan and we would not be the beneficiaries of it. International banking systems, and the ultra rich, just want to take complete control from behind the scenes, and national sovereignty stands in the way of control. People stand in the way as well. If people wake up, and resist, we might have peace, but they will use war to bring all nations of the world to collapse, because this can only be implemented after global chaos, so the people beg for the solution, which will allow them to put the plan in place.
