So what has the Divine Council been up to lately?

Please tell me more about this. Google doesn't seem to help. If you show me the verses, I can look them up in the interlinear bible.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

In Exodus 33:20:21 god tells Moses that no man can see his face and live. According to the interlinear bible the god here is Yahweh.

But in Exodus 24:9-11 74 men go up and see god. The god they see is Elohim according to the interlinear bible.

Drat! Another perfectly good contradiction bites the dust. So no this is not a contradiction of whether we can see god or not. This is a contradiction of whether there is only one god or not.

It gets even deeper when we realize that the god of Genesis chapter 1 is e;phim, but in chaper 2 yahweh is doing the creating. Does this mean there are two different creations? In fact, we don’t see Adam in chapter 1

These are two different gods, two different accounts and the biblical translators cleverly hid this by lumping it all under the name ‘god.’

Again God is a title and not a name
As in:
God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit.

JEDP theory is fascinating on this subject. It argues that you can trace different authorship of certain portions of the Pentateuch by the different names for god.

It also helps explain (amongst other things) why the parable of Noah appears to disagree with itself from verse to verse about how many of each species of animal went into the ark (basically because the parable is two different texts mashed together).

Same God just called by different names over the course of a couple successive civilizations and millennium. The use of Elohim predates the usage of Yahweh. I believe its widespread usage ended by the close of the Bronze Age with the extinction of Ugartic, but may have had a little carryover usage with the Hebrews. By the time of the Babylonian Captivity and the compilation of the Judite Bible (as opposed to the Israelite and Samaritan versions), the Hebrew language had evolved to use new words to describe God and these were interwoven into the narrative. This is of course using the Wellhausen hypothesis I learned from Eric Cline.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

The bible also references several of the past gods.  Basically it says "Forget them and follow us".  And then there is the "us" in the garden of Eden story.

As it turns out, there are 34 other gods mentioned in the bible.

A lot of those are repeats.

If there's only one true god, why is the bible full of imposters?

Because it is set up that way like a game. It tells you to find the truth. John the Baptist was the Messiah as was Jesus but John the Baptist was of higher position because he came from a different blood line than the royals. In a sense Jesus was actually the antichrist. I could tell you that I am the new messiah but what good would that do? You can't see if you are blind. You can't hear if you are deaf. You think John the Baptist and John from revelation are really 2 different people? Think again. John was the one who forsaw the future & he was also the Messiah but it is all hidden behind the scenes.
