I've been watching videos by this guy recently who I mostly agree with on a lot of his videos.


Some of the things spoke about in this video.

Spanked and slapping children is linked to an increase in alcohol abuse, drug abuse and anxiety disorders and to some extent depression.

It can result in a lower IQ. Increased aggression.

I'm no expert on the subject but I can't imagine myself changing my mind about this topic and ever hitting my child even with light spanking.

I found it really difficult to watch. I had flashbacks to when I received corporal punishment at school (slipper and paddle). The thing that haunted me most was the look of justified satisfaction on the faces of the adults; they really thought they were doing the kid some good. I remember that look. That remembrance helps reinforce my opposition to corporal punishment.

When someone tells me, 'Well, I got swatted when I was a kid, and it didn't do me any harm', my inevitable reply is, 'Of course it did you harm - it taught you that it's okay to hit children.'

Pretty much this. My father is very authoritarian, and was fond of giving me the belt. Now I'm older, and I don't know how to deal with my nieces without hitting them too.

If you can deal with adults without hitting them, you can deal with children without hitting them.

Think of it like this: A child performs a behaviour that you deem undesirable or even dangerous and you hit the child to stop the behaviour and elicit what is, in your view, a more appropriate or safe behaviour. If you did that to an adult, you'd be arrested.

Of course you think that: you're an authoritarian bully with no intellectual means of getting a point across or teaching anyone, anything. You have nothing positive to say, nothing of real value to give to the world, and so the inherent negativity of your nature comes across in everything you do. You'll hit a kid because you don't know how to teach and just want to enforce obedience without helping the kid learn right and wrong. You'll base your positions and arguments here around the bible because you have no real intellectual wherewithal and thus need to rely on borrowed authority. You'll assume bigoted stances and wish them imposed upon others by law because you can't argue your case rationally and, as with your apparent love of spanking, care more that people act like they agree with you, rather than actually changing their minds.

Just take, take, take, that's all your kind can do. Sap away the happiness of others, reduce and subtract from their wellbeing to sate your own petty beliefs, just devour people whole to make yourself feel better. That's all religion is, at its core.

He's been going down that slope for some time. It's just lately, though, that it's become glaringly obvious that he's given up any pretense of actual discussion and will troll to get the attention he obviously craves.

Yeah, Drippy is on the short list of intellectually dishonest people that I will only interact with in an official capacity. Usually when I see his threads/posts, I am willing to ignore him. This one is just a special level of disingenuous, that I thought it deserved a heads up for the people treating it seriously.
