Is it ridiculous? Or isn't it rather the only way to prevent abuse? If you virtually make a killing on people dying, what do you think will happen?

I can see it from your point of view, but workers need to be paid.

I volunteer to save dogs and don't get a penny for it.  Sometimes they are too sick to save.  We still regard it as a "rescue."

Option 3.

And I definitely don't agree with physicians being the executioner.

So much ^^^this that there isn't an appropriate quantitative term.

It's relatively easy for countries which have state-funded healthcare systems but for somewhere like the US, it would be much harder to legislate. I can just imagine the arguments now:

"...but Funeral Parlours profit from death! Why should it be any different for organisations offering assisted suicide?!"

"Legislation should be passed, fining people for attempted suicide. After all, suicide robs businesses of the opportunity to generate funding that would be channelled in to finding better, quicker, less painful and more cost-effective methods of ending one's life."

"Given that people are living much longer lives and suffering so many more illnesses which will ultimately claim either their life or a decent living quality of it, people should seriously consider planning ahead for such scenarios in order to relieve their families and friends of the physical, emotional and financial burdens of their dotage, not to mention the wider sociological impacts of an ever growing population. Did I mention that we have a number of affordable packages..."

A cop shooting straight and guaranteed head shot? Don't like the odds, no thanks.
