Can you persuade me from Agnostic to Atheist?

RE: Can you persuade me from Agnostic to Atheist?
I'm a tad confused here with the terminology. Help me out. Ok, this is where I stand, what would I be categorized as?

I do not believe in a god of any sort. However, if a god or the God suddenly appeared before me (or I had enough compelling physical and factual evidence of a god) I would likely begin believing in that god. (i.e. I'm walking down the street. I think to myself "there is no God"...and all of a sudden Jesus drops down from heaven and begins talking to me. I would likely submit and dare not to challenge his authroity unless I was not totally convinced in some way.)

So is that just being a normal atheist?? Or being completely drunk? Or both?

....that's literally nothing but an atheist. The whole "submitting" part is extra, but if you don't believe in a god, that's an atheist. Very, very simple term.

Yep.

That is atheism. Pure and simple.

Most of us are atheists because of the lack of demonstrable evidence to support the claim that a god exists.

If I was presented with a convincing case that a god did exist, I would no longer be an atheist.

But unlike you, I would not submit. If the Bible is an accurate representation of the Christian god, I would not want anything to do with such a god. Could he punish me? Sure, he would have the power. But I would be punished knowing that I was morally superior than the Biblical god character.

The worst of all possible worlds, is one where the Abrahamic god did exist.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

OP,welcome.Do you need convincing that goblins don't exist?
Does it bother you that you cannot conclusively prove that goblins don't exist.

God is just another goblin. Relax... Trust your instincts.
No God, No fear.

Atheist is "off". Your light switch can be currently "off" on past and present god claims but admit you don't know if it will get turned on again in the future.

I guess "submit" was a bad word. But, IF that God is the SAME God as described from the Bible then you would either have to submit or have your ass kicked for eternity since God just happens to be an asshole. So you either fight the living God who made you, or submit or get to be at peace...I think the choice is clear. This isn't like not getting a credit card because you don't like the high interest rates. And it certainly would not be a "standing up against the bully" thing since the bully has power over your life and all afterlife.

Sure, that's atheism. I mean, if tomorrow, some godlike figure appeared from the clouds and performed a flashy supernatural magic show with Trumpets and Fireworks and all that, I wouldn't simply jump to the conclusion that it must be El Yahweh, omniscient Christian creator God of the whole universe, because frankly, that's an incoherent notion anyways and seems rather unlikely if you haven't been indoctrinated into that particular faith among the thousands mankind has come up with; But I certainly wouldn't deny that *something* weird is going on. Most Atheists aren't Hollywood straw atheists or straw Vulcans. Whether the phenomenon deserves the name God is not simple to answer, however, because the God concept lacks a clear and unique definition and testability.

I doubt that you would require much belief, in that scenario, lol.

Unrelated...but...why?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
