The Newer Atheists?

'Atheist movement' is an unfortunate term for a group of related movements, none of which you have to be an atheist to belong to, that have a lot of representation from atheists. There's a secularist movement, a skeptical movement, an equality for atheists movement, a counter-movement to the movement to undermine science and science education for religious or political reasons, and because atheists are twice as likely to be liberal, some social justice stuff. I will truly welcome a better unifying code name for all that.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Well, I don't need any. I never got the feeling of being in a war in the first place. At least not in the religious department. Politics is a different matter entirely.

Purple? It would really be nice if you came out with a rational post.
Your mind is so twisted that I have no doubt you have no idea what reality is.
Get real. This is embarrissing.
Well conducted introspection dispels the dreams and delirium on wich gods feed.

My bad.

Embarrissing? Really?

I agree with this, I have been saddened when viewing the battles that freethinkers have been subjected to in the States, especially with the heavily funded religious groups that seem to have so much influence over everything.

That being said you guys did well getting Intelligent design kicked out of the schools .... camouflaged creationism is a step back, but they have money and will keep trying different tacks the ignorant bastards  Dodgy

Those of us in different locations such as the UK where some people feel as embarrassed to say they are religious as some of the atheists in the US, should "Praise the Lord" (of the rings) LOL

Dog.

Well, the tide is certainly changing, religious thought is receding ... but in any population of 320 million people, you're bound to have more than a few raging idiots.

Yes, I agree ... and with great forums like this and more and more atheists making their presence and rights known maybe the tide is finally going out on the religious bigots .... note it is better in places like the UK but still a very very far away from how a modern society should be  .... we have dicks but they are not YET as vocal and as well funded as some religious groups in the US.

But if bigots are allowed to win in the US, with their ID education in the science room, make no mistake the UK won't be far behind Sad

Great, so I left religion and became an atheist just when atheism was becoming... a religion?

No.

I don't believe in gods. That's it. My other views are separate.

The tide is turning. The demographics are against religion.
