Would you have given me the point if I took the knee as I was contemplating?

Also, I come from a culture where two draws in a whole season is weirdly small. For examle our U21 hurlers won a county final after two replays, losing the east semi to go into the B championship, where they won the county after going through another draw and replay in the county semifinal.

Edit: my quoting FUBAR is because I'm drunk.

Edit the second: the game we won yesterday, semi-final replay won in extea time against a team who were worse hurlers but frankly wanted it more.

The numerous ways in which you can score (with differing numbers of points) in American Football are the reason why ties are so rare. Also it's generally quite easy to win in overtime because after two possessions it becomes sudden death.

Yea well, with some teams, like the Redskins, who have been very spotty as far as consistency for years I can honestly say we blew it today. When you can beat the much better team in the Eagles but tie a crappy team, it says alot. Our owner has sucked as an owner and simply tries to buy a team instead of build one. Year after year and draft after draft we still cannot get all 6 cylinders firing at once. Cousins has had an interception in every single game so far. He's put up decent passing numbers, but when your defense cant stop anyone at key points, you simply have no balance as a team and no depth.

RG3 got a bad wrap by many fans when he was with us. While mobility is a plus in a QB, you cant have them act as a running back most of the time. You still need an offensive line to protect the pocket and you still need a consistent defense and consistent special teams and kicking game. But that has been the Skins problem for the past 25 years. At best we have one good year rarely and go back to 500 or worse.

3-17 to 2-20 is a typical type of score in top level hurling. Three points for a goal so that's a drawn game. Compared to American football there's a lot more ways to score (eg even at mediocre club level you've at least on player on your tean who's got the skill to strike the ball for a point from 65 metres while being tackled) and yet draws are a regular occurance.

US sports tend to be designed to artificially remove draws.

Baseball literally cannot end in a tie game. They will continue to add extra innings until the game is decided.
The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings, two teams from the Triple-A International League, played the longest game in professional baseball history. It lasted for 33 innings, with 8 hours and 25 minutes of playing time. 32 innings were played April 18/19, 1981, at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and the final 33rd inning was played June 23, 1981. Pawtucket won the game, 3–2.
