What did I hear? ( not sure where to post this)

RE: What did I hear? ( not sure where to post this)
When you lose a limb, you still have a perception of it being there. Your brain interprets the impulses from nerves unconnected to anything as if they are still receiving signals and feedback from a member that isn't there anymore. It can be like that with people sometimes, especially if they were very present in your life. In particular, sounds that you would have once assumed to be a loved one puttering around the house are still interpreted that way. The sounds you heard weren't always that person then, and now your assumptions haven't yet adjusted to the fact of them being gone.

It's perfectly normal, and an indication of how much the person meant to you and how important they were in your life.

Ah, ok. I'll put it down to circumstance.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Thanks for your condolences. My mom was a believer. Here is my two cents.I can't say for sure it was imagination or a waking dream, but that's what it was probably, however there is the small percentage it did happen. No one knows what happens at death.

The tapping sounds that you heard were either emotion-related hallucinations or they were actual physical noises but without a known cause.

Another but less likely possibility is, maybe it was just a mean prank by someone. Your story reminded of a time when I was small and I was hiding inside a room of my grandparents'. At one point, when my grandparents got into the bed to sleep and the lights were off, I started to make some creepy sounds on the side of a large briefcase that I was sitting behind. I was making tapping and scratching sounds to scare them. And it worked. Big Grin

All of that aside, I am most sorry to hear about your mother.

A lot of people have had some great insight, one other thing, thinking about ghosts and spirits and the paranormal is a distraction from real life pain felt after losing a loved one.
