Third parties have no chance, so I won't vote for them, so third parties have no chance...

That's like what I said about 3rd party candidates being in a catch-22.  Few people will vote for them until they become a viable party, but they won't become a viable party until large numbers of people start voting for them.

Just remember the part about 3d parties only showing up in presidential election years.

I will say that there was a Libertarian on the ballot this year, for state senator I believe it was. Of course here in a red state I don't think he won against the Republican. But you're right, I rarely ever see third party candidates on the ballots unless it's a presidential election year, unless it's the odd Libertarian running for a state seat.

I think for the foreseeable future, third party candidates will exist for nothing more than a protest vote.
