It's pretty simple.  
There is a shadow government within the government that Obama set up.
They are working to undermine Trump.
So...anything bad the government says about Trump, is a conspiracy against him and no longer valid.
MSM is in on the conspiracy, and are also no longer valid news sources...

I 100% believe that and I ain't ashamed. Although the shadow government wasn't set up by Obama and it can't be said to be either democratic or republican.

How does this belief affect your assessment of the NYT article posted in the OP.
Do you think it's bullshit because "shadow government".  
Or do you think that there is probably an investigation, but you are interested in seeing what ultimately comes of it and want to hold back comment until then?
Or something else?

I don't care too much if you believe in a shadow government.  Though I would like you to explain exactly what you mean by it.
I do care if you are going to use the shadow government as an excuse not to believe anything that gov officials say that is slightly damning about the administration(Not accusing you of this, but it seems to be the conclusion many others I know with similar beliefs have come to.).

In this atmosphere it is not the hidden power of the CIA I worry about, but the fact that we have a military in which a politicized nut case like Michael flint can become a Lieutenant General, and the supposedly rational and cool headed general Mattis, who is illegally heading the pentagon in violation of the law that prohibits former military officers from becoming the civilian head of the defense department within 6 years of their retirement from the military, just used his illegal role as secretary of defense to advocate stopping and forcefully boarding and Iranian warship in international water just last week.
