Your internet privacy is now for sale to the highest bidder in Trumpistan

RE: Your internet privacy is now for sale to the highest bidder in Trumpistan
Does the law mean you can actually purchase the Internet history associated with a name though? I didn't think that was how it worked. What's more likely is that ISPs will sell big blocks of data that are associated with an IP address, or maybe an IP / User Agent combo, so advertising companies know that if someone with the same IP address browses a website with their ad content, they can do a lookup and find an appropriate advert.

The internet was never private anyway. Like the article says though you have options for privacy it really matters to you. It doesn't seem like a huge deal.

If Obama had done the same thing you and every conservative would be calling him a disgusting traitor to freedom and spinning yet another pack of lies about some conspiracy to rob you of all your freedom.

Yeah we have stupid hypocrites on both sides. Please don't assume my opinion. I've changed my mind on the bill anyway, I just needed to think on it. Republicans are stupid on internet policy I can at least admit that. I don't completely agree with my party on everything. I just agree with them more than liberals. I'm not some nut posting a million threads about how obama is the Antichrist.

Hell, already I look at furniture on line, and later on while on Ebay, the ad windows are full of stuff 'I might be interested in'.

(doesn't seem to work on any implements I see on Tumblr, though)

I notice no appreciable difference in speed going from thread to thread or page to page between TOR and Firefox.  I suppose I should go download something to see if that makes a difference.  It would take a little getting used to.

a normal person can't buy someones individual internet search history. The only way to get it is if you are a advertisement or something of the sort who wants to get their hands on bulk loads of IP addresses.  Either way you the person can still opt out of having your data sold off i know there is a comcast page and there is other things hell even calling them and saying don't sell my user data should be enough.

Tor is a pretty good browser i like  it.

NSA and the Government in general can pull your real IP off of the TOR network.
Hell even Tor says don't download or view PDF files because they can snatch your IP etc.
That and dont torrent with it because well people can grab your IP from P2P services and they say use a VPN.

Just wait until they take on net neutrality.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Google doesn't get your information if you don't use any google products or services.  Likewise with other players.  You can opt out of it by choosing to not use services that spy on you.

Your ISP knows everything you do online, and in a lot of cases, you don't have much choice - if any - over what ISP you use.

The only way google get's your data well browser history is  if you let them otherwise in your settings you can have it so your history through the google site if you are logged in
never remembers it so they won't hold the information. even if you did browse around you can go in and delete it.

If they destroy net neutrality they will be the ones that would sign  it back into law so damn quickly.
it's  already a fucking shame that the same country that invented the internet has  some of the worse internet speeds.
Data is cheap we should have the best internet infrastructure and the best speeds for the lowest price.
Instead it's already  proven we have the worst speeds and infrastructure and security because hackers caused a massive
internet outage.
