You are always going to get people trying to treat people unfairly, and that goes both ways with people treating white males unequally as well, however as a society I believe we have come to a point where everyone is given equal opportunity and chance. But we run the risk of going to far the other way by pushing this equality and fairness issue to far, to the point where positive discrimination of groups becomes the issue we face which isn't progress at all, it's a step back. As soon as people get over this idea of labelling and monitoring groups to make sure they are being treated equally then we will actually see equality.

Damn right. Even when you're making sure that every person from every background is given "equal oppourtunity" its racism in reverse. In an ideal world the only criteria people should be judged by is personal merit and their behaviour as to its positive or negative impact on others.

and i think he meant that as a rhetorical question.

So he believes that white heterosexual men should be allowed no kind of feeling of any self worth whatsoever because they're not black, gay or women. So its.. racism/gender politics in reverse, like feminists beleiving they're pioneering gender equality, hwen all they're really doing is replacing one dominant subcateogory of human with another.. and that ain't equality or tolerance.

Really? Everywhere? Didin't I just see lots of media coverage recently where (somewhere, I forget where here in america) gays were lining up for marriage licences? And what exactly do you mean by "civil partnerships are homophobic".?

12% of the population. You said it yourself. Put 2 and 2 together. If white folk were 12%'ers then it would make sense that whites would on average be poorer than blacks.

No consideration of time on the job? Experiance? Expertise?
I been doing what I do for a very long time. I'm damned good at what I do. Of course I get paid more than Frank who just started doing "the same job" for less money. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I believe there exists many women who get paid more than their male counterparts doing the same job for the reasons listed above.

I think we've just established that there's more to statistics than generally meets the eye, and throwing them out there without more indepth explanation is usually only done to cause a certain reaction.

By the way, while I do not refute the argument that more rapes are committed by men on women (I recently saw some Discovery program that discussed a case study where it was suggested men might have a genetic predisposition toward aggression in general - careful with running with that information though) we do have to remember that:

1) In general, women are NOT as strong physically as men...it sorta puts the kibosh on some woman randomly grabbing a man and having her way with him in all the various places that a rape might happen. Although I'd really like to try it on Shia LaBeouf.

2) Anytime I read an article where a man DOES report a rape, someone is talking about how many probably DON'T - men can feel just as ashamed as women, and society puts a different sort of stigma on a man who was taken advantage of. You always hear the jokes about how someone says "Dude, she just groped/fondled/etc me!" and someone responding "Oh, like you didn't like it!" - dismissal like that is loosely on par with telling a woman it was her fault she was raped.

Take the other statistics you have and apply a little thought into what might skew those numbers. I'm not denying discrimination exists in this world. I do think people need to be more careful when they throw numbers around.

hey i am josh i live in the uk however i am half italian and have a very religous family and spend 2-3 months in italy every year (which is just great) i am 16 and have to spend every sunday going church when in italy anyway.erm i like going out with mates watching movis etc.lol thats about it really.

oh and i am gay which i know users like ib.me.ub and dotard will have a problem with since they hate gays but hopefully most of you wont.

Um... how does that work? If blacks and whites had equal standing, then surely on average they'd be the same in terms of wealth, as there would be the same distibution of rich and poor within the group, regardless of the size.
