I'm also on the lookout for an '86 GMC Sierra for household/yard work needs.

I thought I remembered you wanted to go red neck.  Hehe

Everyone gets mad at me for this, but I feel that I have to say it. Buying a Tesla is not enviromentally-conscious. It is virtue signaling. It's a highly visible and expensive status symbol that creates the appearance of caring about the environment. About half of a car's carbon footprint is created in manufacturing it, so fuel consumption is only part of the problem with a car's carbon footprint.  The Tesla, along with all other EVs, depreciates much faster than other cars. About twice as fast. So if half the carbon footprint is from manufacturing, and the car depreciates twice as fast, then there is no carbon reduction. Then add in the source of electricity that fuels the EV. Then you have a larger carbon footprint.

Right now, EVs are not exactly green. The EV is currently less green than fuel efficient sub compact cars, and the Toyota Yaris owner is greener than the Tesla owner.  I'm not against EVs. I think that R&D needs to be done on them, and the current market for them is about right for real world field testing of them. EVs are certainly a big part of a greener future, but the battery tech isn't here yet.

Yup.

An EV may not have a tailpipe - but it is responsible for emissiions - INCLUDING nuclear waste.

The Yaris doesn' t.

Lol, no one thinks it’s emission-free. Cars that gobble up fossil fuels are manufactured too. It’s on the user end that we see a difference.

Oh, I had you mistaken for someone worth chatting with. I’ll remember that’s not the case, and just remind you that you didn’t fucking provide any evidence for your “depreciating” comment, and I’m not just going to take some misogynist cunt’s word for it. Moreover, any car can be taken care of. The earliest Teslas are still on the road. Fuck off.

Make a casual comment about a car and get called a stupid woman? Am I in a fucking different decade?

I completely trust you to do your own research into the matter of EV depreciation. I don't provide links to support it, because I encourage people to research the things that I say independently, and to draw their own conclusions. In other words, I talk to you like I think that you are an intelligent person who won't simply take my word for it.

I'm presently driving a Chevy Colorado. Given that I drive less than 7,000 miles per year now, I probably won't be ready to trade it in for at least another five years. I've test driven a Chevy Equinox and liked the way it handled as well as the gas mileage. That might be my next vehicle, assuming that it will still be available.

The big downside of EVs is replacing the batteries - which will likely last til just shortly after the warranty runs out.

Be ready for a five figure repair bill.
