That is why both Pat Benatar and ABBA are still being covered to this day.

None of these qualify.

I didn't note that in the title or mp OP.

All this thread was about, was that music transcends.

FYI I think Pat Benatar did a far better version of "Helter Skelter" than the Beatles and a far better version of "I Need A Lover" by John Cougar.

I love the fact that even today Pat Benatar is still part of history.

Everything that happened before right now is a part of history. That’s what ‘history’ means.

And I have nothing against Pat Benatar. But just because an artist is covered doesn’t impart some sort of mystique to that artist.

How, exactly, would Pat Benatar stop being a part of music history?  Would you need to flash everyone in the world with a memory eraser gadget?

Artists singing songs they like that were written and/or performed by someone else.   Who knew?  I thought they all came out singing their original works.  Oh look over there - cover bands are a thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_band  Shock and awe.

Yes, I am dumb as rocks...................... And Elvis wrote most of his songs too. BARF!

Pat Benatar certainly did covers, but unlike Elvis her band wrote most of their songs.

Okay, where did Elvis come into this thread?  Elvis was a singer, not a songwriter.

Source for Benatar’s band writing ‘most’ of her songs, please (not that it matters much - she was one helluva good singer, regardless of who wrote the material).

Most of those I didn't know were covers and I hadn't heard the originals of anyway.

I admit to being a Pat Benatar fan, and I tend to not listen to covers of songs I like. I absolutely refuse to listen to Pat's cover of Wuthering Heights. Nothing could compare to Kate Bush.

May as well have Oasis cover Babushka.

And I LOATHE Oasis!
