When do statistics count?

RE: When do statistics count?
In answer to the thread title: The low statistical number of viewers of any particular thread started, also known as its "reach." Also known as the "obscure internet forum effect." Fortunately, paid facebook adverts exist, and at least fora such as these provide a medium whereby total arsehole loser wasters can be completely cat-piss horrible to you when you share your problems...unless you're a member of an "officially" discriminated against minority and that is the subject of your grievance, thereby enabling those arseholes to virtue signal and sleep well away, that is.

Isn't it the case that people are more afraid of guns in general than cops? And that they are afraid of cops because of guns?

I'm not sure there's anything disproportionate here.

Really?

What percentage of police shootings do you think ARE justified? (Only US legal standards apply).

Shouldn' t the justified shootings be removed from the numbers? After all - that is what we pay the cops to do.

1. I have no idea what the percentage is, because I don’t know the details of every officer-involved shooting that results in the death of a cop. But I’m aware of at least a few news stories where it’s pretty clear that if the cops hadn’t shot and killed someone, more people would likely have died (mass shootings, for example).

2. The problem with removing justifiable shootings from the tally is that it is frequently (but not always) cops and cop procedures that determine justifiability. You can remove the justified shootings from the cop numbers if I can remove intentional shootings from civilian numbers.

If you think that you pay cops to justifiably shoot people, you should spend more on training cops.

Apparently, you pay cops to justifiably shoot people. I don’t know the training process for this, but I have a feeling that it’s something along the lines of, ‘Ok, new cops, while you’re out there doing your protecting and serving, you might have to decide if it’s justifiable to shoot someone. But don’t worry - your fellow officers and your superiors in the department will back you up, as will your union and your union’s legal team. I don’t know if you’ve ever met a police union lawyer. I have and trust me - a piranha has more compassion.’

Let's do some back of the envelope stuff. If the way to avoid the risk in policing, which is greater than the risk of an actual criminal murdering you, is to avoid police..I think we might have a problem.
