And this whole argument is a huge red herring. The fact that scientists can make mistakes does not mean the age of the earth is wrong ..... Dodgy

Note that this person has not provided a source for this claim about the Pyramids so I'm just steel manning this.

Of course scientists can make mistakes, DUH Homer. But any mistakes are inevitably corrected by more science.

You didn't last very long.

As far as the pyramids go, since the margin of error on C14 dating is 2-5% and the pyramids are thousands of years old, being off by a few hundred years isn't that significant, so it's not that big of a deal if C14 dating of pieces of wood from the pyramid were dated 374 years older than the historical age of the pyramid. Not to mention several possible confounding factors.

I mean, I'm spitballing here, but at this point, I'm pretty inherently distrustful of any belief system or truth claims that refuse to allow for the idea that "we might have gotten this wrong, so let's see what we can do to make better claims, and hopefully gain more knowledge." Edit to add: I'm not saying that science and religion are "competing belief systems," or that I think science is a belief system.

You consider science a 'belief system'???
