Is art deranged?

I get something from what I get something from.  Even stuff I hate can be valuable to me if I think it challenges me, or provokes me, or gets me to think, etc.  Or maybe even just valuable in terms of investment, or social interactions.  I'll refer to something as Art if it suits me to call it Art.

I wish there was far more good quality modern public art around. More statues, more frescoes, better architecture, more sculptures, and so on.
