Because Texas is the only state that actually had undocumented migrants until Abbott started busing them to other states…
Spoiler alert: California, a sanctuary state, has LONG had the largest population of undocumented immigrants of any state in the union. Yes, more than Texas. So, if the people of California don’t like the idea of immigrants being bussed into their states, I would suspect that it’s for reasons other than their mere presence. Like the fact that they’re just doing this as part of a political stunt that’s, frankly, fundamentally racist. And I suspect that the only way it’d be different for places like New York or Illinois is that there’s just fewer of them already there. I mentioned Illinois because I live there, it’s one of the states Abbott has been busing people to, and I have yet to hear Governor Pritzker say anything like “when we made Illinois a sanctuary city, we didn’t expect undocumented immigrants to actually come here!” Nor Mayors Lori Lightfoot and Brandon Johnson of Chicago. And, frankly, it’d be stupid to think so, since there were already over 400,000 here.
Well, at least this time around, they’re not dropping them off at the VP’s house in summer clothes during a fucking blizzard. Or stranding them with little more than a $10 McDonald’s gift card and an imminent summons at courthouses all over of the country (and, yes, that actually happened in Martha’s Vineyard.)

Yeah. I should have known better than to expect caring progressives to help take care of these unfortunate people. Leave them with those mean, uncaring conservatives. That'll teach them!
