Do you think you might gain something from thinking about it more?

No

4th generation USian, that's my heritage.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Even the First Nations immigrated to North America and then on. We're all from somewhere else, starting with and around Olduvai Gorge (as an easy pick for an origin point, not entirely accurate of course.)

Do you feel that you're part of the living tradition you were by fortune born into.

For example, I am very much English. Do I feel English? Do I feel some commonality with my immediate ancestors, or my wider culture, my history, my nation, my ethnicity etc.?

All my ancestors are dead, therefore not interesting!

Can you expand, please?

I can, but I won’t.

In all honesty, if you are a decent person, I don't really care about your heritage. It did not make you who you are.

Sure, a snippet of you is shaped by it, (if you were vested in it in the first place.) but, that can be said of where you grew up as well.

For me, not a single oz/ml of my heritage was fundamental in the journey that has led me here.
