Quick Poll - Do you believe in God?
RE: Quick Poll - Do you believe in God?
I still believe in God but I don't believe in God packaged in a box of rigid doctrine designed to make people cringe.

We must have something in common then.
As far as i can understand God never meant to be associated with religions
and he-she must be pretty upset to see how the religions manipulated his persona so to speak.  Angel

I believe that this is what we call a backhanded compliment.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Clearly not upset enough to do anything about it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I believe that this is what we call negative thinking which can not be backed up with solid evidence.  Hi

And I'm pretty sure this is what we call incoherent rambling.

What a disappointment Stim.
I always thought that you are like the Guru of the forum and every comment of yours is like the royal jelly
but now i start to having doubts about it.  Dodgy
Suppose your son is not a teen anymore and you can't really tell him what to do.
He grown up.
He is independent.
He got a mind of his own.
If he does mistakes you will be sorry but again you will have to let him carry on with his life.
Why God would do otherwise when his grown up sons-daughters do mistakes?
You never thought about it Stim, did you?  Hi Demon  Hi

Unfortunately there is something missing in your comment.
You try to have the last word but in order to have the last word you need to have an argument that stand up
not something as week as the jelly that collapse down.
Try again Ton but this time bring some solid evidence not the usual bull.  Demon

I wasn't making an argument, I was making fun of you.

As for your point to Stimbo, you do realize that if Stimbo had raised a child, the child would know that he was real, right? Therefore Stimbo would not need to convince his child of anything. And most parents would be willing to help a child in need if they were able to, even if the child did not ask for help. Neither of those applies to god, who never shows himself and doesn't offer help unless you "ask" in some arcane and complicated manner. Maybe instead of asking Stimbo if he "ever thought of that" you might start doing some thinking of your own.

A difficult and knotty question even for God arise.
Suppose God create a beautiful environment for you to live as it was
in the beginning.
After some time you turn the forests into deserts.
You turn the clean air and water into polluted filthy elements.
You start wars, you make a total mess of your and other creature lives
and then ask God for help.
If God would help in sorting out your problems you can be sure that you would
never learn a thing and the rot will continue for ever with your and the planet earth
annihilation.
If on the other hand God would let you solve the problems that you created in the
first place you can be sure that sooner or later you will understand something about your father
so it is important to have a 360 degree outlook rather than judge according to what you can see just in front of your nose.  Hi Demon Hi

If my teenage son went around misrepresenting me, my words, my character, my opinions etc, the way you insist religions have done with your pet god, you bet your life I'm going to do something about it. Why doesn't this god? You're correct that one of us never thought of it though.
