Medium rare ftw.

At the hotel I'm staying at, room service delivered a steak from the in-house restaurant and it was cooked so close to perfection that I nearly came.

Just enough blood, just enough gristle...

As far as I'm concerned, a properly prepared steak needs no topping. Every once in a while I get one with sauteed mushrooms or shrimp topping of one variety or another, but in general I'm not impressed with a steak unless it can be enjoyed on its own merits.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

"Needs" and "is amazing with" are two very distinct things.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

A steak should be amazing to begin with, or else I'm wasting time and money on it.

Meh...to each his own, I guess. I'm not that keen on bleu cheese, but if I were going to bother with it it would probably be on a steak.

I definitely prefer my steak au naturel. Every so often I'll put sauteed mushrooms on it, but most times those are on the side.

I still prefer my steak on someone else's plate, though I'd gladly sit under the table to provide entertainment during the meal.
