RE: Intelligence test
In my first year at university in my logic course, the lecturer did a little demonstration for us.

He had an embarrassed third year student come in whilst wearing comedy glasses/nose/moustache and carrying a custard pie.

He told us that if he answered the three questions wrongly then the student would put a custard pie in his face.

He answered the three questions correctly and still got the custard pie in his face.

His point was that he only specified what would happen if he answered the questions wrongly, he never said anything about what would happen if he answered them correctly.

The puzzle in the OP only seems to be a puzzle because people assume that one man is always telling the truth and one man must always be telling lies. This is never stated.

RE: Intelligence test
Guys... here it is.
There are 7 billion people.
3.5 billion of them, at least, tell lies.
3.5 billion of them, at least, say the truth.

That leads to the common saying that half a world is deceiving the other half.

Sadly, reality attests that 1% (or less) of the people are deceiving the rest.

Hmm, too bad the knight isn't around to improve on the shortcomings of his imprecise language. Does that mean we passed the test and he admits defeat? Did he realize that he is out of his intellectual depth? I will simply assume that until convinced otherwise.

I think we all won. The answers aren't consistent with the question, or else it's some sort of trick question.

"Brothers"? Why is it important, that they're black? Is this supposed to be some sort of a racist joke? 'Cause I don't get it...

Determine all of what you know, don't think one has to tell lies and one has to tell the truth.

All I know? That's a very open-ended question! I fear that it wouldn't take as long to answer as I would hope Blush

In regard to the presented scenario, all you can deduce, logically, is that Man 1 has provided one 'truthful' statement on one occasion. Your example doesn't contain enough information to progress any further without a series of un/poorly-supported assumptions.

RE: Intelligence test
The OP sounds like a garbled and not well thought out version of this old nut shell:

You are faced with two doors.  One leads to death, the other to freedom.  You must choose a door.  Outside the doors stand two guards.  One guard always tells the truth, the other always lies.  You don't know which guard is which.  You are allowed a single question to a single guard.  What should you ask?

There's another solution:

If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
