I feel like in apologetics, plagiarism is rampant. I despise the practice.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Seems to me that he was perfectly willing to trot out the name of some fuckstruck catholic apologist or anyone else who told him what he wanted to hear. That was his biggest problem. You were always arguing by proxy.

I never encountered apologetics until I came here (hooray people in NH valuing personal boundaries). From what I've seen, the practice largely revolves around regurgitating a handful of the same talking points, repackaging them if necessary, but never changing their core ideas. It's utterly insane to me.

I'm kind of annoyed that Randy was banned. Jenny says she banned him for plagriarism and that this was a majority decision... Ok. For one, it seems like a pretty silly offense, and even if you want to justify such a ban per the rules of the forum (which I would criticize in Randy's case, as he always engaged specific critiques), why disallow PMs?
This, i.e. the elimination of all "our" more engaging opponents, is what makes me completely disinterested in these forums at this point... it's like this place is only useful if I get the urge to come smell my own shit.

Eh, get over it. Randy was a parasite who was going to continue doing what parasites do.

If you think copypasta is worthy of being called engaging, I guess.
If you think the forum is full of shit then, well... RE: Peanut Gallery Commentary on the Staff Log of Bannings and such like.

I understand your point. Engaging opponents are fun. However, the rules are the rules and plagiarism is a serious offense in any serious discussion. What's really silly is that he continued to do it even after he'd received an official warning not to. If you want to go on engaging with him, you can find him at Catholic Answers Forums, where many of his posts also consist primarily of plagiarism.

In a respect, it makes me proud to be part of a forum that receives so many theist spammers who cannot get a clue because they are so lost in their own misguided fantasies that they are unwilling to break past the religious boundary that merely keeps them forever a prisoner.
