On a side note, a fictitious house could be built however I want. Fiction consists entirely of things people have made up. I could build a fictional house that hangs in space, has no floors, and has walls made of moonbeams. There are practically no rules governing the existence of fictional things.

1) You are the one making a positive claim here, you need to provide the evidence for your claim. Not believing in an afterlife is simply the default position when there is no evidence for an afterlife.

But in general on consciousnes and the mind, it is becoming increasingly more obvious with each passing year that both are emergent properties of the incredibly complicated and complex (they are not the same thing) called the brain, and the even more incredible synaptic and electrical connections created within the brain. So in essence we do get the framework to build our personal consciousness from previous generations. It's evolution, foo'!
3) Go to 1, god is as unproven as the afterlife. And no not everything is possible. For example, there is no way for your life to continue if you were to be exposed to the vacuum of space.
4) Under gravity the big is also attracted to the small, just not to the same extent. Under the better and more accurate relativity, what is called gravity is simply a curvature in space-time created by physical objects. How this relates to consciousness you don't know, frankly.

A non-belief is also a belief.  
When you say......i don't believe that God exist.......... you make a judgement in your mind that such and such a thing must be like this or follow a certain path.
The mind need a place to lean on therefore every time it lean somewhere it create a belief in something.
