So it isn't that all Christians are stupid, it is that currently the west is feeling a resistance to progress because Christians know they are slowly losing their former status in the world.

So, the situation appears to be something like this:

We don't think that God exists; in fact, we're pretty sure he doesn't though we can't actually prove that, of course. But even if he did, we wouldn't want to obey, serve, worship, love or follow him because we believe him to be unworthy of those things.


Unfortunately, that's not much of a justification for being an atheist (much less and anti-theist) because there are plenty of options/reason for being theists without referencing the Judeo-Christian scriptures at all.

For those who are fairly new, I'd just like to add myself to the list of people who would not become Christian even if all its claims are true. Being an atheist is not a choice, it's a reaction to reality. Refusing to join a religion, and fighting the harm religion does, is a choice I make, and not one that in any way depends on whether supernatural stories are true.

I think some people simply cannot grasp this distinction.
