Stupid Do-gooders
April 7, 2016 at 11:54 am
New York has banned the use of smokeless tobacco at sports facilities that sell tickets expressly for the purpose of potentially removing an influence to minors. For fuck's sake. Homeless and poor people have it rough and this is what passes the time. Let's ban smokeless tobacco, but by all means continue with the ubiquitous crotch grabbing and spitting in general. I find it ironic that they claim concern about what children may learn from ball players, but have no problem teaching them to be busy body idiots hell bent on depriving someone a basic pleasure for the sake of some unfounded influence by using political power which is ultimately enforced with the muzzle of a gun.

Generally I don't really care about being the land of the free. But in this case, I don't see the sense in outlawing people from doing things that only hurt themselves but no one else.

Land of the free. If you're male, white, heterosexual, identify as your born gender, and christian. otherwise restrictions may apply.

I worked in a tobacco free work place for years. No smoking or chewing during work hours or on the property (I hear it applies to vaping now also). Also, if traveling for the company tobacco free extended to that work place, during work hours also. As a smoker, I got through it no problem, sometimes for 8 hours at a time. Came down to my job being more important to me than smoking.
I may be wrong, but it appears this only effects employees/players. Will they enforce this against the ticket buyers?
Hey Losty, take a swig out of a beer can that has been used as a repository. Trust me, you'll be hurt.

America was founded as a police state. It's in the Constitution.

Show me. You overlooked that article about slavery being the law of the land. They kept it enforced by passing such things as the Fugitive Slave Act. It basically put bounties on all black people wherever they were in America or the territories. Sounds like a police state to me.

You can't have legal slavery and Jim Crow laws unless you have a police state. America was established as a police state and still functions as one.

I'm not a doctor but pretty sure grabbing your crotch and spitting in general doesn't give you crotch or mouth cancer. Might be wrong, but pretty sure... So role models should be allowed to unintentionally advocate health harming habits... cause freedom?
Not sure but I think they are paid like, I dunno employees? I also think that the MLB is like a big deal when it comes to role modeling and image and general cultural influence?
Probably wrong about all this but maybe not having the role models of young people in a big cultural sport endorse indirectly (but pretty clearly) use of tobacco might be a good thing?
Probably just typing out my ass cause you know... freedom!
