Especially if the threat is realistically going to be carried out. Yes I would also put some culpability on the pray-er but the majoity of course would be on the individual killing. Both of your examples, in my mind, are being careless. The first is careless because it's plausible that they could and have hurt people in the past, the second for the same it's just more direct. I refuse to be careless with other people's lives. If somone said I would die for praying in public, then I would pray. It's alittle rebellious of me, which is typically out of character. It would also be careless and reckless, but only with my life and therefore I could justify it.
You are a better man than this preacher then.

Of course, that shithead preacher should not then complain if some muslim shoots him in the fucking head, should he?

Min, your heart and head are in the right place. It isnt easy to deny the heart when it comes to the rights of others. I PERSONALLY think this pastor should have let it be. But my mind, my social aspects of thought, realize the importance of the bill of rights. If I condemn this man, then I leave myself open to be condemned.

If a Muslim shoots him in the head, that will be murder.

I would never shoot Fred Phelps in the head despite the fact that he's routinely far more offensive than anything this pastor has done. I would fight for even HIS right to free speech.

If Allah approved, then he should appear in court and convince people to let the murderer loose..same as Jesus and blasphemy laws..if Jesus doesnt like something being said, then he needs to stand up in trial...we dont let other people stand up for the offended or the defended..so why do we give Jesus the exception.

Glad the blasphemy laws have been all but done away with.

I disagree because that's not the only way. As you already know, there many individuals who have converted to Islam after studying the religion on their own, then they wrote books about it, gave lectures around the world, helped to speak out against violence, and have developed respect and tolerance for other religious groups as well. So, you're clearly missing the bigger picture. It's not just the consuming of hatred and violence.

Not sure about that, although I do admit that both religions have caused a lot of harm to others. But, I believe that it is mostly due to misunderstanding of the religions and/or personal biases. The truth is that many of the acts of violence and terrorism occurring in the recent days are totally against the teachings of Islam. I've also mentioned it in this post and this post with proofs.

@Saerules: "If a Muslim shoots him in the head" meme? No, that's not good at all. Sounds like you have some bad wishes ...

Factually incorrect Chuck.

Christianity had a 600 year a head start on Islam for disgusting behaviour. Islam isn't even in the same neighbourhood.

Christians have been having religious wars almost since the beginning,until-umm,now. (people are still being blown up in Ireland) Violent jihad had pretty much ceased within a century of the death of the Prophet.

Today, what is called 'Islamisation' is NOT supported by most Muslims. The main support comes from the ultra otrhodox and intolerant Wahhabi Muslims in countries such as Saudi Arabia.

On a personal note: I know two anglos who converted to Islam. Both are Americans. One is a cousin by marriage. Last I heard he was teaching Arabic at the Agha Khan Foundation in Paris. His doctoral thesis was on the work of the mulla Sadra,(Sadra al- din Muhammad al-Shirazi) known as" "the Plato of his time". The other belongs to a sufi lodge in London.

Quote:Wahhabism is a religious movement[1] or a branch[2] within Sunni Islam It was developed by an 18th century Muslim theologian (Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab) from Najd, Saudi Arabia, who advocated purging Islam of "impurities". Wahhabism is the dominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia.[3] It has developed considerable influence in the Muslim world in part through Saudi funding of mosques, schools and social programs. The primary Wahhabi doctrine is Tawhid, the Uniqueness and Unity of God.[4] Ibn Abd-al-Wahhab was influenced by the writings of Ibn Taymiyya and questioned classical interpretations of Islam, claiming to rely on the Qur'an and the Hadith.[4] He attacked a "perceived moral decline and political weakness" in the Arabian Peninsula and condemned what he perceived as idolatry, the popular cult of saints, and shrine and tomb visitation.[4]
