Trump has scammed people out of their savings at Trump "University" and refuses to pay what is owed to contractors ---and has the nerve to call Hillary "crooked!"

I've read several articles by people who have known and worked with Trump.  He never reads. He has an attention span of less than 10 minutes. He asked Kasich to be the "most powerful vice-president in the history of the country" ---who would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy ---in other words, do his job for him. (Kasich was smart enough to refuse.) Republicans worried about "socialist" Bernie, yet Trump seems to love and admire dictators and despots who run their governments with an iron hand, yet they claim to want less government. 

No matter what party is in power, the only way we can accomplish anything in this country is to work together. By being hateful and divisive, Trump is splitting us apart even more. 

And it just baffles me that the GOP leaders who support him claim to be for freedom, democracy, morality, family values, and to love and support our war heroes..... and yet they support someone who is the antithesis of all of that. None of them have the courage to stand up for what is right.  It's all party before country. 

The disenfranchised who support Trump don't seem to be bothered that the economic problems they face are due, at least in part, by the economic divide, and yet Trump wants to lower taxes on the rich even more. (The shortfall will be on the rest of us.) 

I'm also concerned that Trump will do something so stupid and unconstitutional that he will be impeached.  (Trump even implied that if he doesn't like the job of president, he might resign.) And then we'll have a nut-job, tea-party Christian in President Pence ---the guy who thinks it's ok to discriminate against anyone on religious grounds.

I'd be willing to bet that there are a bunch of conservatives who plan to vote for Hillary but never tell a soul about it.

Gary Johnson is a bit of a hippy. It's hard to get folks off the conservative train and on to the train of the former CEO of Cannabis Sativa, Inc.

I don't think it would be in the best interest of Republicans as a party to support 3rd party candidates. If Democrats win this year - that's one problem, but if Johnson, Stein, or whoever else gets a good percentage of votes - it may result in an even stronger 3rd party candidates in 2020, with whom Republicans will have to compete. I'm sure they'd rather lose one election and keep the 2-party system more-less intact, especially that fiscal policies of libertarians could result in significant percentage of conservative voters switching their sympathies, if third party candidates became viable.

Yes, this. Strategically, it makes more sense for Republicans who can't stomach Trump to vote for Clinton. If Clinton wins, then they have her to kick around Obama-style for four years, blaming her for everything under the sun and biding their time until they can nominate someone who might beat her in 2020.

The GOP really has to play a long game, here. If Trump gets into the Oval Office, they are finished, and they know it.

I am thinking that, at this point, some Republicans may not want Trump to win. They are probably thinking that he will screw up so badly that it will make the Republican party look  bad   er rather, worse than it does now.

If Hillary wins, Republicans can continue doing what they've been doing, obstructing everything, then blaming anything that doesn't go well on Hillary and the Democrats. If Hillary stays in office for 8 years (or even 4), no matter what she does, a lot of people will think it's time for a change and vote Republican, as long as they nominate a half-reasonable person.  (Please, not someone who wants to be Christian-in-Chief like Cruz, Santorum or Huckabee.)

I'm convinced Trump is mentally ill.  But then, after all the hatred Obama had to put up with over the last 8 years, I question the sanity of anyone who wants to be president. No one has elephant hide strong enough for that.
