Ignorance is bliss. As long as there doing it, they are living. They understand that. Humanity doesn't understand such a simple fact. If we all work towards a mutual gain, we would thrive. I'm not a Utopianist, so I don't believe humanity will ever grasp this.

A nihilist rant from a Marxist. How delightfully boring.

You know every generation seems to think that the human race is in decline. We have whiny roman texts about the "downward spiral". Amusingly enough, the apocalyptic scenario cashes in on this little quirk of humanity.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Inserts false teeth to proclaim, "Why, back in my day, I remember when boys used to dress up to come callin' on the ladies ..."
"Even it it were to collect 'em for the concentration camps."
I don't think it's worse today; just different.

Things have always sucked and will continue to suck. It's nice to know that one thing will get us through it all:

If you are speaking of America, then yes, I believe it is decline. And democracy is retarded in more crucial ways than listed in this thread.

Democracy happens to be the only viable government after all other forms had long since failed.
What we have in America, is not a democracy. It is more akin to a republic, with heavy plutocrat (corporatist) intervention.
