I'm pretty sure there's a rule in the NBA stating that players must stand for the anthem. Is it really forced though? Nobody is forcing these millionaires to make millions playing a game. They can go and do otherwise if they so choose. I understand that playing the anthem is mostly just an advertisement for the military, and I'd like it to be removed from all games other than the Olympics, but that's not happening anytime soon.

I'm sorry that dumbfucks like you cannot understand that not everyone has to goose-step to the same dictator but this is still, technically, a free country. You're a typical totalitarian fucktard. EVERYONE MUST BE THE SAME!!! Go jump off a bridge, asshole. (September 23, 2017 at 12:35 pm)FFaith Wrote: I'm pretty sure there's a rule in the NBA stating that players must stand for the anthem. Right you are. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-pent...story.html Quote:Pentagon spends millions paying pro sports teams to honor soldiers at games They seem to consider it an investment to keeping those bigger and bigger military budgets flowing!
1. There Ahole goes again with his my position has black friends argument . It's as much bullshit now as when he used it to defend confederate statues. These people(who you have yet to show exist ) are clearly ignorant of the fact blacks would not be playing sports if it was not for protests.
2. There is a difference between one player not wanting to conform to your ultra nationalist bullshit Ahole . And a person firing people for not standing. 3. Burning a flag neither means you hate the flag nor the nation . Flag burning can be a act of protest if ones nation has done something shameful . Same goes for not standing for an anthem . I'm sorry if symbolism flies over your head dumb ass.

The Star Spangled Banner wasn't the national anthem at that time. The racist Woodrow Wilson was pushing for it to become the national anthem by the Congress Critters told him to shove it. He probably got one of his minions to play it at the ball game as a propaganda ploy. The crowd liked it and that gave them the green light to continue playing it as a way to influence the Congress Critters to adopt it. They eventually gave in but it took years for it to happen. By that time it was being blasted on the radio when the games were being broadcasted. There is a code in America on how to get rid of the stars and stripes that is too tattered to be used anymore. Can you guess at what it suggests is the most respectful way to dispose of an old flag? You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
Couple of things on this:
1. Trump (once again) demonstrates that he doesn't grasp concepts like 'freedom of expression' and 'I'm not going to fire players who generate millions of dollars in revenue for my team'. 2. If you can't burn a symbol of freedom (in this case, the USian flag) as a protest, then that symbol means fuck all. Boru

But suddenly want it when it gets to something they jerk off over. The worst part of their bullshit, is they bitch about how rich the players are, which is fucking nonsense. The millionaire player is rare in that league first off. But they also bitch about welfare while paying for free stadiums through our taxes even if you don't like the sport. And these assholes demand forced ritual? And no, I am not advocating burning a flag. I am saying if you are going to value protecting offensive speech, you don't have to like it, but don't fucking be a hypocrite about it.
I stopped standing for the National Anthem over 40 years ago as a high school student. I don't bow to ritualistic behavior. I never attend sports events but would be offended if I paid for any entertainment and was compelled to join the sheep in a display of petty patriotism.
I think these kneeling players are more patriotic than those following the horde. The anthem ritual is for blind followers. The peaceful expression of discontent with hypocrisy is healthy.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
They say more NFL players will be protesting today and even some coaches will join in.
