In any case, I see no similar value to those books of ancient horseshit. Given a chance they would gladly burn the books of other sects themselves.
It is dangerous and IMO quite unfair to measure other beliefs - even Christianity - by the parameters necessary to understand Islaam.

Quote:Diophantus has traditionally been known as the "father of algebra" but in more recent times there is much debate over whether al-Khwarizmi, who founded the discipline of al-jabr, deserves that title instead.[15] Those who support Diophantus point to the fact that the algebra found in Al-Jabr is slightly more elementary than the algebra found in Arithmetica and that Arithmetica is syncopated while Al-Jabr is fully rhetorical.[16] Those who support Al-Khwarizmi point to the fact that he introduced the methods of "reduction" and "balancing" (the transposition of subtracted terms to the other side of an equation, that is, the cancellation of like terms on opposite sides of the equation) which the term al-jabr originally referred to,[17] and that he gave an exhaustive explanation of solving quadratic equations,[18] supported by geometric proofs,
Knowing the amounts of credit theft that took place during the crusades, and even later on, I side with the Khawarezmy easily. Especially after knowing that the word "Al-Gebra" is an Arabic word: الجبر .
War and force decorate all human behavior. Even sex.

Personally; it's a choice you can pick.
Culturally; it's a very big mistake.

No Minn, they are still part of human history. I would simply say they should be seen as mythology not reality. I wouldn't want the Pyramids or Greek Acropolis blown up like the Taliban blew up the statues of Buddha.
I would argue that theists don't need their old bad guesses, but I also would not want to erase history, just learn from it.
I remember reading about that tragic incident.
Just like ISIS and their demolition of Iraqi and Syrian culture.

If you lived with ancient Egyptians; probably you'll be killed if you refused to worship Egyptian idols.

Minn, I would agree that the state of the middle east is far too much still far to dogmatic and tribal. But back then, even in polytheism, worldwide, humans of every religion, sought guidance from their respective god/s to guide them in battle in defeat of their enemies. Even in Greek and Roman mythology they had "war Gods". The Egyptians prayed to their deities to help them to defeat their rivals too.

Roman God of war.

And even Asia has it's vengeful mythology.

Exactly. People are different, but back then everybody was religious somehow. Almost everybody.

Nope, muslims fucked that one up too. Or at least they liked to say that they did. I'm guessing it just sheared.

Quote:The Arab historian al-Maqrīzī, writing in the 15th century, attributes the loss of the nose to iconoclasm by Muhammad Sa'im al-Dahr—a Sufi Muslim from the khanqah of Sa'id al-Su'ada—in AD 1378, upon finding the local peasants making offerings to the Sphinx in the hope of increasing their harvest. Enraged, he destroyed the nose, and was later hanged for vandalism.[49]Al-Maqrīzī describes the Sphinx as the "talisman of the Nile" on which the locals believed the flood cycle depended.[50]
There is a story that the nose was broken off by a cannonball fired by Napoleon's soldiers. Other variants indict British troops, the Mamluks, and others. Sketches of the Sphinx by the Dane Frederic Louis Norden, made in 1738 and published in 1757, show the Sphinx missing its nose.[51] This predates Napoleon's birth in 1769.

WHAT? Bu bu bu.... You're a Muslim.......... We know you have a subscription to "Inspire"...... You aren't supposed to do that. You are supposed to rail against the west, and give the Trump voters and Fox News viewers the red meat they love.
GEEZE, cant we have our stereotypes without you destroying them?
