A document that was written in the era of muskets, when the colonial government and populace were about on par with each other in terms of military might (indeed, without a standing army, the local populace was the military might of the colonies).

One's assault rifle, despite being an incredibly formidable weapon in its own right, does jack shit against an attack helicopter, tank, armed drone, jets, etc. The notion of armed revolution in the modern era is ridiculous. Turkey couldn't even manage it when portions of its army sided with the people and attempted to stage a coup.

I say this as a person living in the "Live Free or Die" state. This isn't the mid-to-late 1700s any more. Any romantic notions of successful armed revolution are bullshit. Reality isn't Red Dawn.

To be fair, I wouldn't go through that much work for a meal, but lions don't always have an abundance of options. It depends on the seasons. If something wanders by, they'll try to eat it.

Organized crime can still operate, because their fire power is a massive deterrent to government intervention.  It doesn't have to be a revolution.  The populace can be enough of a threat that subduing them isn't feasible.

As you can see it has stood the test of time.

Notice that the people kept it intact because they value their freedoms more than most people do.  They don't run scared just because a handful of white school kids get shot dead.  After all of the other snowflakes give up their freedoms in a vain attempt to "be safe" I expect them to be the last hold-outs.
