Stupid humans & risk taking
July 4, 2015 at 8:35 am
Competitive eating, and or bulk eating "food challenges" offered up by food joints "eat this huge amount get it for free".
Any sane doctor is going to tell you doing it too much will hurt you over long periods of time. There was even a stupid contest a radio station had for who could drink the most water without going to the bathroom, a woman died.
I get risk taking, it is part of our species evolution, but some of it just comes off as plain fucking stupid.
And even today, some stupid people are going to shoot off fireworks illegally, I've seen plenty of morons shoot them off in wooded dry areas near houses, I once saw an entire box of catch fire and almost catch a house on fire. But just like every fucking day of the year, the most stupid thing I see humans needlessly do is drive drunk.

We are all descended from young buck dipshits that took their chance and lived.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

What I don't get is these people who have no experience with lions who want to pet them. You are literally putting your body (which is meat like any other animal) right in front of it. "Oh let's get a photo with Mufasa! .... ooh, that's not what we were going for"
It's always the white girls too. I guess maybe because Europe historically lacks large predators (save for bears and wolves in some countries) we're just not used to dangerous animals.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie

Happened to stumble today on a great example of someone apparently born without an amygdala (actually, two - I could never have watched that attempted let alone encourage it). I hate to say it but I wish I had the courage and skills to do that. He ought to be in the national tumbling and trampolining team in 10 years.
"Faith is a state of openness or trust. To have faith is like when you trust yourself to the water. You don't grab hold of the water when you swim, because if you do you will become stiff and tight in the water, and sink. You have to relax, and the attitude of faith is the very opposite of clinging, and holding on. In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be."

That kid is not too smart, but that was impressive.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' -Isaac Asimov-
