I read the whole article. Maybe something trickled down in the zeitgeist about the rumours of officers looting in the aftermath of the bombings, and that's why I described it as being a dive. No way to know for sure.

Growing up I took three rounded spoonfuls of sugar since before I went to school.  At some point I became convinced sugar was white death.  So I started cutting back sugar until I could just taste it.  Eventually I was using so little that I just stopped using it altogether.  After some family event where everyone was using a little sugar I went back to putting in a teensy bit.  But I can taste if its missing or if I put too much.

Never used anything sweet before. I have a bag of sugar in the cupboard as backup in case I run out of aspartame stevia.

I get you to a small degree. I read the novella The Birds in high school and to this day if any bird other than a small finch or sparrow looks at me I will back away. I'm pretty sure my death will involve birds pecking out my eyes.

I was in the school yard hitting a ball around with a bat. This bitch walked up on me from behind, walking somewhere else, and just shoved me out of the way. I snapped and hit her in the back of the head with the bat.
