Gay Marriage - are you for or against it and why?
RE: Gay Marriage - are you for or against it and why?
This thread still exists... and my position has not changed an iota Smile

There is no such being as 'rights', only regulations. And marriage is and always will be ridiculous to its core Smile

Marriage is rediculous Sae, I agree. But if people choose to do so, who the fuck are we to say that homosexuals cannot marry each other. Persecuting people for something they can't change or help.

You people who disagree with marriage between gays, make me sick. You are selfish, pathetic cunts.

Certainly not I Smile But my vote is either all marriage or no marriage, and seeing as you aren't allowed to marry a cat (which is certainly a person): I cast my vote as none at all Smile

Not that I'd deny gays marriage... but I will always laugh at anyone desiring marriage Smile

I'm OK with gay marriage for gay people, otherwise high-spirited merriment should be kept to a minimum, or alternately get it, and the expectation of it over with in the early years. Wink

But what matters is PURCHASED benefits, wether from worked benefits or paid straight from cash.

Such as health care

But it is more than that, and you know it.

It's about accpetance both socially and economically. If I were part of a gay relationship, and I were told "Im sorry, but you cannot visit the patient" from a hospital because my relationship wasnt recognized.

Or that a mother of a deceased gay lover could come in and take what she wanted because "our relationship wasnt legitimate"

Well... you know as well as I... this is bullshit.

I appreciate your anti-traditional vibe. But it goes WAY more deeper than that.

Im not gay, yet I am willing to fight for gay rights.

Will you fight for them?

Not a problem with gay marriage... this is a problem with a society that would make life harder for someone single in the first place.

This is not a problem with gay marriage either... but of society requiring such for hospital visitation outside of blood relations in the first place. Toss marriage and be more open.

Socially... I agree, since marriage has always been political from the start... but the economic benefits are entirely ridiculous.

And that is something I find ridiculous whether someone be single or not. Whatever you write in your will >>>> whatever your mother wants Smile

Yes, my beliefs regarding marriage go way deeper than just saying it's retarded as if it made it so... I certainly agree that 'gay marriage' should not be restricted any more than 'straight marriage': my position is that marriage on a whole is absurd... and it is even more ludicrous that anyone would take this already insane notion and restrict it from others.

I'm pansexual with bisexual inclinations, and I will not fight for gays alone. I'll only fight for myself and for my friends...

If any of my friends are gay and want to get married, then yes I will fight for my friend ^_^

I'm not against it, but I'm not for it.
Simply because, I think that this is the worst topic to polarize yourself politically, and a middle ground is simply not found to satisfy both parties, for the sole purpose of gathering votes.

Since marriage is synonymous with getting married in a church or whatever in western countries, and it has a tradition behind it that was exclusively between a man and a woman, people may oppose it. I understand them, because I think that the union of two genders does not constitute a family, nor a real marriage.
But gays may want to share the same legal property rights, tax cuts and etc. with a partner they are in a committed relationship with.
So, give them "civil unions". I think those would work great for America, allowing gays to share the same legal rights, but at the same time, satisfying the people that are against gay marriage.
