One place I worked at many years ago, one of the technicians came to me when he found two data files with the "same" name. It turned out that the "ELL" and the "ONE" in that particular font were indistinguishable on that system (Windows 3.5.1, whatever font, I don't remember).

If a 'FrianFroddingForu5' shows up, it isn't me.  Ban it immediately.

What I don't get is why the same people keep on trying to sneak in. It is often claimed that they want to troll or spam or whatever, but clearly it ain't working for those purposes.

When I first signed up I got a couple of responses to the effect that "we'll see pretty quick if you are genuine". Since I am, it didn't bother me much. But these guys just make it so obvious.

And it's regularly the same guys. Theres the muslim guy, "emil" and variants, there's the guy who somehow thinks LFC will fall head over heels in love with him. There's a smattering of loons doing it for class credit and so on.

They all get banned so fast that they never achieve whatever objective it might be that they have. So why do they keep doing it?

I just don't get it???? Why?

I guess it's the internet equivalent of those sad, lonely people who masturbate in the bushes and call people over to look.   My eldest sister was waiting for a bus, on her way to jury duty and that happened. I forget why her car wasn't working, but her husband worked late that day getting it fixed so that she didn't have to ride the bus again.

Too bad that you (probably) have laws against open containers of alcohol on the street. It would have been pretty funny for someone to agitate a bottle of beer and "put out the fire", so to speak, with the foam spray. I've "won" a couple of bar fights that way.
