[Quranic Reflection]: sex and love

[Quranic Reflection]: sex and love
One of the biggest misconception about Islam is that it's anti-sex.
The lifestyle that the religion teaches is highly misunderstood and mixed with the teachings of other religions; too.

Love between men and women is described as a "sign of God"; you can read the verse yourselves:

Quote:Sura 30, The Quran:

Sahih International

(21) And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.

And sex is mentioned elsewhere in the Quran; too, and that "men and women" are actually from the same soul:

Quote:Sura 7, The Quran:

Sahih International

(189) It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful."

Islam never had problem with sex; but it always had a problem with mating unbound to legal contracts that burdens society with children with no parents -from my perspective-, and with unnatural mating like homosexuality.

My reading to the verse makes me treasure sex and look at it as a sign of God, not just as a way to pleasure needs.

Sex is better without gods sticking their noses into our business.

I think ‘mercy’ is a safe word.

I can't recall anyone here saying that the Quran is anti-sex.  Provided that the sex takes place only between a man and a woman, in a union approved of by Allah, I'm sure the Quran is fine with it.

Anti-woman, sure.  Anti-gay people, definitely.  Anti-ham sandwiches, no possible doubt.  Anti-hundreds and hundreds of things that would make people happy if they weren't forbidden by some semi-literate, semi-savage, child molesting fanatic fourteen centuries ago, absolutely.

I agree with you here. But (just for the sake of argument), let's assume you might be wrong. Let's delve into the issue

I mean, what if homosexuality IS unnatural? So what?

If we are going to ask this question, first we must ask ourselves what the word "unnatural" even means... and how something that happens in the natural world--like gay sex--can qualify as "unnatural."

And even if gay sex IS unnatural... does that make it immoral? Is that, like, a rule? "All unnatural things are immoral?"

I guess the rule would go something like: "If something is "unnatural" (whatever the fuck that means) it is therefore immoral."

So does that mean virtual reality is immoral? What about Pokemon? Fuck, I mean, what about science fiction novels?

I'm confused.

Quite interesting that Atlas likes to explain to us the supernatural (Allah) while he doesn't yet understand the natural ( homosexuality)!

The premise of this thread seems rather weak: "Islam: It's not as bad as you think, though it's still not as good as modern thought."

The anus, the theists nightmare. See how well the penis fits into a back passage, surely this is a sign that they were created for such a thing. In the male the Gspot is obtainable only via rear penetration so again.....
