Declawing Cats
RE: Declawing Cats
Yeah, that’s a pretty common valuation clause.

But if you don’t value human life over the life of a worm...then we’re not doing ethics, just airing our misanthropy.

Which is also fine- obviously you can use any valuation schema you like.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It’s a classic free rider scenario. I find it difficult to believe that She’ll would boot me or any other human being off a lifeboat to save room for a pet....but if we run with it, it’s not likely to matter if she would.

Other people, with stronger ethical motivations, will prevent her from doing so and prevent it from being done to her, as well.

The other side of that coin, ofc, is that even if a person isn’t acting in others or their own ethical interests, animals could use the odd advocate. Somebodies gotta speak for the trees. Even if that advocacy takes a hard turn.

That depends on so many things. Do I know the worm? Do I know the person? Is the person a good person? I don't automatically value a human life over that of a worm.

Obviously, I said I value my family over other animals, including people.

Gae, I don't know, man. I looked at one of my cats and thought about whether I'd save a person over it, and I would take some convincing. That might sound fucked up to you, but my cats hold much more meaning to me than the billions of randos that exist on this planet. When it comes to who I'm going to spend money on, it's definitely my pets. Thankfully, the scenario to off you or my cat will never be reality.

It doesn’t sound fucked up to me at all, and it’s a common valuation clause as I mentioned.

I trust in your operant conditioning and the ability of others if the day ever came, lol.

If you just couldn’t be reasoned with, though, I might keep your dog and toss you overboard as a clear danger to survivors. Particularly if we’re going to be in the raft long enough to get hungry,

Wink

See, misanthropy vs ethics. I’d have to give you a heartfelt salute on the way down for a baller move like that.

I'm not so much a misanthrope as a person who enjoys revenge and other such petty shit.

Why not, right. Cats have their claws, so do we.
