And this, folks, is just one small example of just how immoral religions are. It is quite possible that Dmitry is a nice guy, who lives his life as a good citizen, yet just look how his religion has completely distorted his moral compass. I am almost sure, that if it came down to it, he would not act as immorally as his book. Dmitriy, please rest assured, that I would not be morally ok with owning you, or your family as slaves. I am more moral as the Bible, and deep down, I believe the vast majority of Christians are more moral than the Bible, also. It is NEVER moral to own another person as property, to pass them down to one's children, to beat then as long as they don't die in a couple of days, to sell one's daughter into sexual slavery, etc. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. Or is it the case that if god commanded something, anything which made you feel uncomfortable, you would do it anyway because god commanded it. Even though you felt personally that you shouldn't do it? (August 20, 2019 at 7:34 am)Dmitry1983 Wrote:(August 20, 2019 at 5:57 am)Abaddon_ire Wrote: You are ok with human sacrifice? Rape? Genocide? I don't think Dmitry is in the least interested in a reasonable discussion. His answer pretty much shuts down any such discussion because he can't go wrong with what he's saying, in the amoral sense that is.

He shuts down discussions because he is writing nonsense or, at best, child-like thinking. He seems like a troll that for some reason managed to survive for a long time. So Osama Bin Laden believed in an all-powerful creator of the universe and look where it got him.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
