If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
Here’s something that I just discovered that kinda blew my mind:
Specifically, look at the opening credits and see if there’s any names you might recognize. Like any famous film composers whose other works you might know. Yes, this was John Williams’ first film score. And he’s still going strong even as he’s been composing for films since the year my Dad was born.

So far, I’ve: -Hammered a square bar into a round one. -Hammered that one back into a square. -Hammered points onto both round and square bars. -Bent bars into curvy shapes over the anvil. -Put multiple folds into a flat bar. This stuff is SO cool! Boru

I've finally gotten around to watching The Tudors and decided to look up King Henry VIII. He and I had/have the same birthday.
Not only did 19th century American General Abner Doubleday not invent the game of baseball, he never claimed to have done so. None of his surviving letters make any reference to the claim, and no mention was made of it in his obituaries and funeral orations. The myth was entirely based on a single, uninvestigated claim made 15 years after his death.
Doubleday did, however, fire the first shot in defense of Fort Sumter. Boru

This is a thing:
This aired on Turner Classic Movies in the middle of the night one night in 2010, and it exists solely so Warren Beatty can extend his rights to Dick Tracy. And apparently, it worked, to the point where, when the Tribune Media Services sued him over it, the judge ruled "Beatty's commencement of principal photography of his television special on November 8, 2008 was sufficient for him to retain the Dick Tracy rights." Okay, full disclosure, I knew this for a while. What I didn't know until today, however, was that the Atlas Shrugged trilogy was actually made for much the same reasons. An investor in, of all things, health and fitness machines, decided to buy the film rights to the film, and, after 18 years of trying and failing to make it into a proper film, decided to make this trilogy of shit. It's honestly enough to make me grateful that it's taken so long to get to these films because I think this might be a crucial through-point in examining it when the time comes.
