There's a lot of that in this thread. What have you done to make people less afraid of people who don't own guns?

BINGO! I am not afraid of firearm owners whom understand we have a problem and agree that we cant keep doing things the way we have been. But firearm owners should be afraid of the ones that have an "all or nothing" mentality.

My friend from Oklahoma owns firearms, but he isn't afraid of me pointing out that we do have a problem, and he understands we can do better than what we are currently doing.

In a politically pluralistic society one party does not get to dictate laws and both parties have a say. There is no political party oath to own a firearm and that means voters have a say and one party does not get to have everything they want 100% of the time, regardless of the issue, even outside of the issue of firearms.

Liberals own firearms too. And the vast majority of liberals are not looking to ban 100% of firearms. We merely argue that they should not be so easy to buy, nobody needs to stockpile them like they are going to war, and you don't need high capacity clips to hunt or defend your home. None of what I just said is a call for a fascist state.

The firearm companies are using the same tactics selling fear, that the auto industry pulled in the 70s when Nadar told them their products were unsafe. Regulations forced the auto industry to make better designs, and employ seat belts air bags and crumple zones. The auto industry did not go out of business. The firearm ceos are doing what big tobacco did with "smoker's rights" lobbies in trying to hide the dangers of smoking and marketing to minorities and youth. The firearm companies are using the same lobbying of fear that the fossil fuel industry does in selling climate change denial. It is all fear based marketing to protect profits.

If people on the far right on this issue would simply stop buying the fear the industry lobbies government with, they would see that those who simply want safety, they would know we are not out to get them, we simply want more concern for public safety than the profits of the companies.

The OP is a poor example of needing to own a gun.

If this was an after school special, the moral would be to not own a gun.

You're welcome.

I have a yearbook from HS that has a picture of the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre in it. That was 1984. Since then we have had events like Columbine, Lubies, Aurora Colorado movie theatre, Pulse nightclub, Dilan Roof, Va Tech, Parkland, and that is a tiny fraction of the list. It doesn't include the majority of suicides, domestic murder, and accidental. An average of 100 people a day die from firearms nationwide.

No, I am not going to stop talking about it. I don't care that it annoys anyone or offends anyone. Death and PTSD that stem from these events is far worse than merely being annoyed or offended.

How about doing something other than repeat the same rant over and over again.

Why don't you spend your time sending poorly worded letters to people who might actually be able to do something about guns?

Or just keep repeating yourself here where you accomplish absolutely nothing.

My repetition doesn't kill anyone. My repetition cant shoot 50 plus concert goers from 32 stories up in a hotel. This post isn't a firearm, it is a mere post.

Sorry it bothers you, but again, the cost in first responders, medical bills and PTSD for survivors far outweighs you being annoyed.

So you don't intend to actually do anything other than repeat yourself over and over to the same audience.

You assume this is the only website I use?

OLB started this thread, not me. He brings this issue up all the time. I don't hear you talking about his repetition.

The real dangerous repetition is coming from the ceos of these companies through fear lobbying. That is the real reason we cant have sane safety laws. My pointing that out is not a threat to anyone. You need to stop being annoyed by me and focus on the real problem.

As long as America has the level of firearm violence we do, I will continue to talk about it, here and elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I'm not back under any official capacity. Also, I am aware of the sarcasm in your statement. Why couldn't I have just stayed away, right?

Once again - gun sales are way up - ammunition sales are through the roof - we are back to shortages of ammo (due to sales - it's not from some conspiracy theory of "gubbermint intrusion" or anything of the sort).

Say what you like about hating Trump and Republicans - but for you "quit flooding the market with guns" types --- you really need to reconsider voting for Democrats.

It just makes people crazy and they go out and buy guns and ammo when the ( D )s win.....

Hilarious

I’m sure that’s true - fear and low information have always been powerful marketing tools to convince people to buy more of what they already have too much of.
